Appearing
at this year's Rocky Mountain Trumpetfest is Bert Truax.
Since 2000,
Truax has expanded his private lesson studio and performed
with the Fort Worth Symphony, Lewisville Symphony, Richardson Symphony, East Texas Symphony and the Memphis Symphony. He has also soloed
with the Texas Chamber Orchestra, the Richardson Community Band and the Troy State Wind Ensemble. This spring, Bert will be a guest
soloist at the University of Central Florida, where he will perform his own Trumpet Concerto for the first time (the Concerto was
premiered by David Bilger and the Dallas Symphony in 1995).
Bert performed his Trumpet Concerto in February 2006 with the Richardson Symphony.
On the recording front, he has appeared on numerous projects, including a CD with John Holt called "Facets", and also on his own new
CD, "Listen with Your Heart". Bert has always been an active composer, and has premiered five new compositions since 2003, including
"Grace", "In His Light", "Hymn to Gil" (for his teacher Gil Johnson), "Praise the Lord" and "Listen with Your Heart".
"Hymn to Gil" was performed at a tribute to Gilbert Johnson at the 2004 ITG Conference in Denver, Colorado.
At the 2003 ITG Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, Bert performed "Grace" during the concert featuring new trumpet works, and also
gave the first "Bert's Basic Brass" Master Class, based on his popular interactive DVD. He also presented a similar clinic at
the 2004 Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
In January 2004, Bert also accepted an adjunct teaching position at Texas A&M, Commerce.

 Recorded in August and September
2004, the CD was initially conceived to emphasize
some of Bert's compositions and faith journey. After his
recovery from the subdural hematoma which nearly claimed
his life, it also signifies his return to form as a
player.
The CD features Bert on the Stomvi Elite
Flugelhorn, the Elite D trumpet, and the Bob Reeves
V-Raptor, all manufactured by Stomvi. The CD includes
the following Bert Truax compositions:
- Grace (piano, voice and Stomvi D trumpet)
- In His Light (trumpet choir with percussion and
organ)
- Love Song (from Bert's Trumpet Concerto - piano
and Stomvi flugelhorn)
- Sea of Treasures (flugelhorn with rhythm section)
- Praise the Lord (vocal, trumpet and rhythm
section)
- Listen With Your Heart (vocal, violin, trumpet and
rhythm section)
- Coming Home (vocal, trumpet and rhythm section)
